LOOKING at Ipswich through the eyes of young people is the theme for the 150 Views of Ipswich exhibition by children and young people opening next month. The exhibition, being held at the Ipswich Community Gallery, will be opened by Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale at 2pm on Sunday, August 15. Showcasing the art and literature works of local school children, the exhibition will include poetry, visual art and mixed media works and be on display from August 15 to August 26. Mayor Pisasale said he was looking forward to showing locals and visitors the talent that was abundant in Ipswich. "The works of early childhood, primary and high school students will be displayed," he said. "There are so many gifted young people in our community so I am very proud to be opening this exhibition to show everyone these amazing young artists. "Ipswich has many brilliant residents so this exhibition is a great way to see what these young people think of their city and how they view their future here. "I encourage everyone to come and have a look at the works and be proud of our future generation and their amazing abilities." For anyone interested in attending the opening ceremony, contact Exhibition Coordinators Lee Fullarton from the Primary Arts Network Ipswich on lfull12@eq.edu.au or Jenny Stubbs from the Ipswich District Teacher-Librarian Network on jstubbs@exemail.com.au by Friday , August 6.
