Give me an F. Give me an I. Give me a T.

BeFit4Life - Dance, Cheer & Fitness is responding to issues of lack of physical activity in the general population, particularly in relation to children and teens, by providing a variety of activities that promote a healthy lifestyle not only now but for the future.

BFit4Life - Dance, Cheer & Fitness allows primary and secondary aged students to be involved in the fast growing sports of cheerleading and sportaerobics which promote fitness, teamwork, school or club spirit, and of course, lots of fun. BFit4Life - Dance, Cheer & Fitness also promotes the concept of a natural high. By participating in a number of competitions throughout the year it is hoped that students will realise that the best high of
all is that of adrenaline.

BFit4Life - Dance, Cheer & Fitness is a newly established business owned by Melanie Arthur. While the business may be new, the concept has been in operation for some years. Melanie, a secondary business teacher, witnessed first hand the declining participation rates in sport and sport related activities as students progressed through secondary school, especially in relation to teenage girls.

Many teenage girls were involved in dance and dance related activities outside of school but were not given the opportunity to represent the school or feel part of the school sporting program due to a lack of options available to them within the school environment. In response to this Melanie used her own background in dance to introduce cheerleading, dance and later on sportaerobics (through the help of her mentor Roxanne Thew of FitnessRox and Schoolaerobics) to the students at Sunshine Coast Grammar School,
where Melanie continues to work on a part-time basis as a business teacher. Melanie has also worked in After-School and Vacation Care programs teaching
dance and cheer as part of the Active-After School Communities Program.

About the Owner

Melanie has taught cheerleading and dance at Sunshine Coast Grammar School for the past 7 years and has worked on a part-time basis for FitnessRox, teaching cheer and dance, for the past 6 years. Over the past 7 years Melanie's students have experienced many successes in both cheerleading and dance at Gymnastics Qld, Australian All Star Cheerleading
Federation, FitnessRox Cheerleading & Dance Championships and Schoolaerobics Events. Melanie's theatrical dance team has represented Qld
at the Schoolaerobics National Championships for the past 4 years.

Melanie has a Bachelor of Business, a Bachelor of Education (secondary) and has completed many short courses in cheerleading and dance.

About the Activities on Offer
Cheerleading

While cheerleading is an American-born football tradition, its adoption in Australia is more about acrobatics, dance and fitness. With over 600 Queenslanders involved in the recent Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation Qld State Championships, Cheerleading is a fast growing
sport that promotes school spirit, teamwork, fun and fitness. The sport is for boys and girls from prep to adult and there are divisions for beginners to advanced.

Sportaerobics/Schoolaerobics

Schoolaerbics is one of the fastest growing sports in Australia with over 6000 kids a year competing around Australia in regional, state and national level competitions. The sport is for boys and girls, from Year 4 to 12, and there are divisions for Novice, for those who do not have any experience in dance or group exercise, right through to Advanced divisions, for those from gymnastic or dance backgrounds or those who have progressed through the levels.

Theatrical Dance

Theatrical dance combines many elements and styles of dance to form a routine which tells a story, similar to the Rock Eisteddfod concept.
