Keep abreast of comedy trends and head to the Ipswich Civic Centre on August 4 for a side-splitting and uplifting experience. With more front than Myer the bosom-buddies, Katie Houghton and Mandi Lodge, star in Busting Out - a hilarious, liberating show which has been seen by over 250,000 adoring fans across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Follow these two lubbily-jubbily ladies as they unleash their playful puppies for a trip down mammary lane. It's an uplifting celebration of bouncy songs, wobbly jokes and practical demonstrations of the lesser-known uses of your assets. Busting Out is part musical, part stand up, part theatre, part cabaret and shows off a nice pair - of talented performers that is. Katie is no stranger to theatre. Growing up in a musical family, she made her first official recording of Puff The Magic Dragon when she was just 2. Clearly she was destined for the stage. When at age 12 she discovered none of the boys would kiss her while playing spin the bottle, Katie threw herself into music. After travelling around the European Union and everywhere in between, working as a photographer, Katie returned to Australia and was accepted at the W.A Academy of Performing Arts. Mastering comedy, opera, jazz and broadway styles, Katie then embarked on a career in the footlights across the world. Taking a break to raise her two children, Katie is thrilled to be in this titillating production. Mandi was raised in a small Northern English village, and served her apprenticeship as a singer on the club circuit. Starring in her local operatic and dramatic society, Mandi then found herself working on cruise ships. Her talents were certainly noticed especially when her halter-neck dress malfunctioned and her great attributes were on show for all to see. Since moving "down under" 10 years ago, Mandi has starred on the stage and the silver screen. She relishes the opportunity to "air" her assets on stage. There certainly have been no knockers amongst critics. The show has been so successful creator Emma Powell and off-sider Bev Killick are currently touring UK. The Daily Telegraph called Busting Out "tasteful, clever, liberating and laugh-out-loud funny", while the Melbourne Herald Sun wrote: "Mega talented... these girls sing, dance, bounce and squeeze through a non-stop two-hour show with clever skits, laugh out loud song and dance, and ripping gags". Audience members have been equally supportive as they say "thanks for the magnificent mammaries". Here is what some of them had to say: "I have never laughed so much during a show. What those women can do with a pair of boobs is unbelievable." "Honestly, I have not laughed so hard and for so long for a very, very long time. I was a bit worried my man wouldn't enjoy it but he was wiping the tears away also. Recommended - A+++++." "I laughed so much that I almost embarrassed my companions. I laughed so much that my pelvic floor abilities were stretched to breaking point. Had the girls asked the audience to 'get their tits out' I wouldn't have had a moments hesitation... The stand up routine at the beginning was hilarious and the show was constant in its pace and timing. I went with high expectations and wasn't disappointed at all." "Laugh? Did nothing but laugh." Busting Out is on at the Ipswich Civic Centre on Wednesday 4 August at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $39.90 for adults, $37.90 for concessions and $36.90 for groups over 10.
