Entry deadline extended for Camera! Action! Libraries! competition - great prizes on offer

YOUNG photographers and film makers have been given an extension of time to enter the Camera! Action! Libraries! competition being run by the Ipswich Library and Information Service.

Ipswich City Council Tourism and Libraries Committee Chairperson Councillor David Pahlke said while competition entries had been steadily arriving at the library, council wanted to give individuals and schools more time to take part.

Cr Pahlke said entries must now be lodged by March 5 this year to be eligible for judging.

"Competition entrants need to produce a digital photo or short film about, or featuring the Ipswich Library and Information Service and upload their masterpieces to Flickr (digital photos) or YouTube (short films)."

The competition is open to youths aged from 13 to 18-years-old for both individuals and groups and works must be submitted online.

Cr Pahlke said prospective entrants needed to become a member of the Ipswich Library and Information Service before lodging their entry.

"Membership is free and joining is easy just inquire at any of our branches."

Cr Pahlke said the competition's winners would have the chance to win gift vouchers to purchase their choice of great prizes including games and consoles, DVD, CDs or iPods, cameras, MP3 players and mobile phones.

Cr Pahlke said the public also had the opportunity to be involved by voting for the popular choice awards.

"This can be done by logging on to the competition blog site at blog.library.ipswich.qld.gov.au/teen to view the entrants' work and vote."

Short-listed photos and videos will now be screened and winners announced at a special red carpet event later in March.
