Flashing school zone signs for Ipswich schools

TWO Ipswich schools have received flashing school zone signs just in time for the start of term three next Tuesday (July 13). Bundamba Secondary College and the Sacred Heart School have each been allocated two signs by Ipswich City Council to remind motorists of the presence of the 40km/h school zones. City Works Committee Chairperson Cr Trevor Nardi said the signs were erected by council to ensure that increased safety measures were in place for when the schools' students returned to the classroom. "When you have children walking in these school zones, you have to be extra vigilant as a motorist," he said. "It's easy to forget when you are driving through school zones and these flashing signs are an excellent reminder to all motorists that they must adhere to traffic rules in school zones and be aware of their surroundings. "It is important that we continue to make our children's safety is a priority." The zone restrictions at these schools will operate as:
