Skate and BMX community asked to get involved in Strategy for the future

IPSWICH City Council wants everyone with an interest in skate and BMX facilities across the city to meet its representatives in the park to discuss a strategy for the future. Parks, Sport and Recreation Committee Chairperson, Councillor David Morrison said Council and consultants, Plan C, had started on the development of the 'Ipswich Skate & BMX Facilities Strategy' designed to provide strategic direction on the development, maintenance, management and activation of Skate and BMX facilities in Ipswich. "The Strategy, will ensure that facilities are appropriately located, well-designed, enjoyable, appropriately challenging, in line with acceptable standards and are safe and enjoyable for users of all ages and skill levels. "All interested skaters, BMX riders and community members are invited to drop in to our 'Meet us in the Park' events to have your say in what happens in our skate and BMX parks." Cr Morrison said Meet us in the Park events were scheduled for: Bob Gibbs Park, Springfield - Saturday, February 13, from 10am-11am;
"A convenient way for you to become become involved in the project is to jump online to share your thoughts. "We have a short survey on Skate and BMX facilities in Ipswich that you can complete online at http://www.ipswich.qld.gov.au/ . "You can also share a conversation with other Ipswich Skaters and BMXers on two dedicated web forums or you can join the Facebook Ipswich Skate and BMX Strategy Group to stay up to date with what's happening with the project."
