RSL Youth Development ProgramFor all you students entering year 11 or 12 in 2009 now is the time to put pen to paper and apply for the RSL Youth Development Grant. http://www.bond.edu.au/rslyouth/index.html ) Maybe you want to go to the UN Conference in New York, help children to read in South Africa, learn to fly a plane, compete at a major swim meet, do your music grades or like me attend the World Championships in Dance. The sky is the limit. If you can dream it you can do it. The RSL and Bond University started a wonderful program, which is only in its second year. They are awarding grants to senior students to help them realise their dreams. These grants are substantial they are $2,600 for year 11 and $5,200 for year 12. As I was entering Year 12 this year I was awarded $5,200. I used this money to pay for my training, equipment such as new shoes and wigs, the airfare to Belfast and all my food and accommodation. As you all can imagine with the help of this grant I was able to concentrate on training and not on how much it was costing my parents. As part of the program in April there was leadership day held at Bond University. All grant recipients were invited to attend. Unfortunately I was away competing but I have seen the DVD and I wish I could have gone. The RSL and Bond University should be applauded for doing this. I know it made my life a little easier. I cannot thank them enough. This is why I would encourage all you 2009 seniors to have a go and apply. If you have a dream here is the support that may help you achieve it. Good Luck to all of you.
