Know the Job

One of the most important things you can do before your job interview is to research some information about the company, and the particular position you are applying for.

If the interviewers can see that you have taken the time and initiative to find out about the company and the position, they will assume that you would show the same kind of dedication and initiative if you were to work for them.

The information you should try to find includes:

  • What is the business of the employer?
  • What is the nature of the job you are applying for? (possible duties and responsibilities)
  • What are the qualifications for the position? What skills might the employer be looking for?
  • Who are the customers of the business?
  • What is the reputation of the employer?
  • What are the physical requirements for the job?
  • Who will be interviewing you? How many?
